ABOUT LAMINAR STUDIOS
Jay founded Laminar Studios in 2024 after a career as a delivery captain covering over 50,000 nautical miles, including five Atlantic crossings. Specialising in high performance multihulls, Jay has gained a unique insight to the ergonomics of life onboard. This directly translates into Laminar Studios design philosophies of simplistic, sustainable and ergonomic design for life on board.
Now based in the United Kingdom with a focus on innovative yacht designs, Laminar Studios designs are done by sailors, for sailors - blending hands on seamanship with design expertise.

Exterior Yacht Design
Our approach to exterior design is focus on practical solutions and efficient use of space. Each project considers hull form, deck layout, and rig configuration to ensure safe, manageable, and enjoyable sailing. The design process prioritizes performance and ease of use, aiming to create vessels that are both functional and visually balanced.
Interior Yacht Design
Centred on thoughtful system integration and tailored cabinetry. Attention is given to optimizing storage, workflow, and accessibility, with custom cabinetry and fittings designed to withstand marine environments. The studio works closely with clients to develop layouts that accommodate technical systems—such as electrical, plumbing, and ventilation—without sacrificing comfort or usability.
Product Design
Laminar Studios develops practical components and fittings for yachts, from custom hardware to specialized onboard equipment. Each product is designed with durability and simplicity in mind, aiming to improve the day-to-day experience aboard. Solutions are developed to integrate seamlessly with existing yacht systems.
